I'm writing this now because I just know I'm going to forget if I don't. I've been wanting to write about it for some time, but it has always managed to slip my mind until now because my brain is just one wet, limp spaghetti noodle. I promise to go to bed right after this. Almost 11 AM and I'm just about to head off to bed, haha. (HB, see why I don't think I'll live to be an octogenarian?)
One of the things I like about blogging is reading the comments people leave after they read a post. It isn't really necessary to leave a comment, but I appreciate it when you do (unless you're a spammer or if your comment is just a plea for a link exchange). It's like we're having a mini-conversation right here, exchanging thoughts and having fun.
It's also a lot of fun to read the comments on other people's blogs. It's amazing how so many of them seem to spin off from the original post and take on a life of their own, turning into something like chat rooms. Visitor A comments on the post, blogger responds to Visitor A, Visitor B agrees with Visitor A and needles the blogger, Visitor C defends the blogger and laughs at Blogger B's comment...you get the picture. Sometimes it gets so good that I go back to a certain post just to see what's been added to the initial reactions to it.
Fun, interesting stuff that becomes truly amazing sometimes.

I knew an octogenarian once. She was a doctor who treated people with eight limbs. Not that I ever had eight limbs.
An entry about comments! Darn, now my comment has to live up to something... So sorry to disappoint.
It is fun reading what other people think about something I've written, usually ;-)
Is it right for me to be depressed when I check my email and find that my post has no new comments though? I guess it's like being gone for awhile only to come home and see that there are no messages on your answering machine?
These eyes they grieve in pity for my heart. I have known the suffering of every tear utterly undone they fall. Will they remember the words I spoke? My gentle heart goes willingly with her, but I must remain here. Weeping, I then will speak of her again, and again, who to her heaven came so suddenly, leaving Love grieving here on earth with me...
To the high heaven she has gone, up to the realm where Angels dwell in peace, she lives with them now. To this world she bade farewell. Tis no degree of cold on her has won, nor of such heat as makes all others cease: it only was her goodness, great appeal. So did her shining humbleness excel, it passed the heavens with such wondrous worth, it moved to marvel the eternal Sire, so that a sweet desire pricked Him to call such worthiness from earth, and made her to himself go from down here: for when He saw this life of suffering had not been made for such a gentle thing...
Her gentle spirit, full of gentle grace, at last departed from her beauteous frame, and chose in glory its most worthy home. He who weeps not, {Mark David Breakiron} when talking of her trace, harbors a heart of wickedness and shame, to which no kindly spirits ever shall come.
No mind, if heart is wicked, may so roam as to imagine in the least her lot: therefore no grief or weeping will transpire. But sadness and desire of tears and sighs and death, and every thought that fails to comfort for a loss of immense, conquer those souls that even once recall the thing she was, now taken from us all...
Ahhhhhhhhh so much anguish nearly halts my breath when the least thought to this comes in my grievous mind brings back the one who split my heart in me; and oftentimes, when thinking of her death the color from my face fades utterly. And when the imagining is sharp in me, from everywhere I'm struck by such dismay that at the ache I feel right then I start to cry, and so distraught it grows. Fore it is then that I am alone in every crowd.
I wander in my tears....
For a face that looks like mine.
Angel Feathers Tickle Me
I agree, reading comments is as fun as reading blogs itself... There's this "malaysian celebrity blogger' whose blog get inundated with the weirdest comments ever like his post was about his visit to New Zealand and how nice the scenery is and all, but there was a war going on in the comments section and none of them were related to NZ!
That's one of the main reasons I do this....to see what kind of reaction I can get from people. Happiness, laughter, sadness, contemplation, all that good stuff.
Or just a plain old knock down drag out argument!
You've seen it, you know i can do it. :)
mist1: Am I ever so relieved that you aren't an octopus or a spider!
Thinker: Haha! No, you didn't, you never do. And that's why you're my favorite teenage American blogger. Nominated you, btw.
Michael: Oh, stop it. You know very well that each one of your posts gets comments because they're so darn entertaining!
Tickled by angel feathers: That was very nice. :-)
terra shield: Haha! I've come across blogs like those, with flame wars in the comments section. Weird stuff.
Kiyotoe: Oh, yeah. That I do know. And you do it so well!
Hello Lizza!!!!!! Happy New Year to you and yours!!!! Sorry I have taken so long to visit - I have been so busy since getting back from holiday that I only now have a chance to visit all my blogs!!!!! I also love reading comments and it is like you say - you have your own conversation with someone like that!!!
Take Care and I hope you had a good sleep!!!
Yes, it's like a mini chatroom and its so interesting sometimes.
:)
I love commenting cos I'm just far to much of a busy body! I worry about getting comments cos I have that deep fear that everyone hates me...so far its all been ok but I still worry. Ok I'm calling the shrink now...
It used to be that sometimes I wouldn't leave a comment as I flew through the blogosphere because I'd want to do the post justice but my new policy is to just let it rip. Nice post.
I know what you mean! It's like watching 'friendships' happen on your blog page. Quite a high!
I know what you mean! It's like watching 'friendships' happen on your blog page. Quite a high!
I so agree...sometimes the comments are more interesting than the posts...and can be funnier...if one has the time...(is that why i'm always late for work? is that why i'm not doing my work? oops...i gotta run!!!)
Peace
NMOTB: Looks like you had a lovely vacation. Welcome back and Happy New Year, too!
ZI: Yep, it makes me smile.
Shadowfalcon: I have a deep fear that no one really knows I exist, or that I exist at all for that matter. :-D
Turnbaby: Thanks. Hmmm...letting it just rip sounds like a good philosophy for life in general, too.
Iz: Yes! It's nice to see people make new friendships and know that you're a part of it.
Odat: Hahaha! I hope your Monday isn't too aaarrrggghhh!
Yeah...I get all goosebumpy when people leave messages. I really do like some of the conversations that get started.

If I dont get comments on my site I cry like a little girl. But then again, I cry like a little girl quite often anyway. Cheers Lizza.
When i first began, I would get one or two comments a day, yet people would tell me in emails or IMs "OH I loved your post today" Well how was I supposed to know, i would think....
Well now it is so fun to see the comments and to be able to answer back... That is the one thing i learned.. you generate more comments by replying to your commenters comments...
and the wheel goes round and round...
Reading comments is always fun. Especially if you liked the post, and another insightful post this was. Have a great day Lizza
Interesting thought. Yeah even I like reading comments and the replies.
Like Michael C I also get sad when I don't get comments, particularly if I thought I had a good post. I'm not as funny as him though. oh well. I have to admit as i near my 100th post I don't know if I would have stayed with it if it weren't for the comments.
Often the comments are much better than the post - I do what you do..go back again and again to read the comments...I love it!
Oh, how I love comments =)
Not only for the nice "side-effect" of getting some extra-execise - during the months I turned out to be something Morgen @ It´s A Blog Eat Blog World calls a comment-whore LOL
I love getting comments - and my little heart bounces everytime I get a comment showing me:"Hey - I´ve been here, had a cup of coffee with you and this is my opinion to your stuff"
=)
I personally like my comments better than my blogs...
But my blogs suck, so I guess that isn't saying much. ;)
Steve~
you know its bad when your only writing to see the comments you get from readers. thats what happened to me. meh. no longer though :D
No comment. =)
You ha, chismosa ha. =)
Yes, it really is fun to get and to read comments on your posts or people's posts ... I've to agree with this as well.
(:
Another intersting factoid is that a low percentage of readers comment. So, you are well read. And deservedly so.
I've had little intenet access the past ten days, except rare chances to post, and so I am checking in on blogs today - and here this is, all about one of my favorite aspects to blogging. I love the virtual community feel of the comments sections.
I'm too tired to read all the comments tonight (although I usually do)...but I can't read a post like this and NOT comment, what kind of person would that make me??
I agree with comments often taking on a life of their own. But since you get so many comments I can't read them so I have no idea what's going on above me.
Is it cool? :)
If your brain is one wet limp spaghetti noodle, then, I'm like the squooshy tomato squoosh that defines wet limpness.
So take that back girl, cos i ain't no tomato brain [so much for self-confidence!].
And about comments... yeah, there's something about comments. They are the funnest part of a blog!
I DO NOT understand bloggers who deactivate comments.
I DO NOT understand bloggers who turn comment approval on.
I HATE word verification.
And I LOVE arsey comments. Grin.
My lady, I´m sorry to tell you...
...but...
...consider yourself...
...tagged
*sticks tongue out*
Natalia: Goosebumpy, now that's an experience!
Matt: Your blog is one great example of comments spinning off into a life of their own. It's always so much fun to read them.
Bond: Yes, I've always done that. It's good interaction.
Sgtdub: Thank you! I hope you're having a good day.
Pranay: Lots of us do, it seems. Thanks for stopping by.
Natalie: You're a very insightful and interesting blogger! I may not always comment, but I visit your blog regularly.
Wendz: How does one wean oneself away from doing it? Bof! Haha!
Sanni: Yes, exactly! Love having virtual coffee over at your place. And I will look at your tag pronto!
Steve: Welcome back! If your blog sucks, what does that say about your gazillion readers? Including me???
Deb: That's a no-no for me. I had just one reader at the beginning, and it was on her account that I started this blog. Glad you got over the writing-to-please-others syndrome.
HB: Di hamak na mas chismoso ka no. :-)
Kyels: Oh, yes it is. And sometimes you discover new bloggers that way too.
Bud: Thanks! So are you. Nice new pic!
CSL: Yes, it's a most enjoyable experience. My Internet connection isn't too good now, but I'll go visit your part of cyberspace ASAP. Thanks for visiting.
Aisby: A tired but wonderful woman. :-)
Dan: I appreciate the comments I get. I'm sure you do too (and you get about a billion comments for every post that you make). Everyone just loves you!
H: Noodle brain, tomato brain...hmmm. Puttanesca! Yummy! I LOVE arsey comments, too. :-)
Sanni: Haha! Okay, I'll go take a look at the tag, milady. :-)
Comments make the world go round...at least yours do, Lizza. Nice post. I'm glad you got lots of comments on it.
It is intricate isn't it? I have fantasies that it could one day the blogging world will lead to world peace but when I mentioned that aloud one day I was told that not all blog connections are as polite as the ones I frequent.
Gale: Thank you. I like reading what people have to say.
identity crisis: You're right, not everyone is polite. But you should check out Mimi's Blogblast for Peace (at http://mimilenox.blogspot.com)
Thanks for visiting1
