Mental summer

I know, I've been a bad blogging buddy recently. I wasn't able to make the rounds the past few days, so no Blogworld Saturday today...sorry, guys. There were other things that needed attending, but that doesn't mean I didn't miss all your lovely posts -- because I did. My to-read list in my Google Reader is miles long already.

Two typhoons have passed by the Philippines the past week, and while they didn't hit Manila directly, we've had lots and lots and lots of rain (with the resulting street floods and worse-than-usual traffic jams). Thank heavens I work at home, so I've been spared those problems: no commuting for me and my part of Metro Manila doesn't flood.

You guys probably know I love the rain; I've talked about that here many times. Despite this, images of coconut trees on sun-drenched beaches and the sound of waves lapping on the shore never seem more alluring to me than at times like this. My human nature sucks sometimes. Why can't I help longing for something that I can't have in the here and now?

In just a few months one of my beautiful blog buddies will be coming home to set up shop in one of our versions of paradise: Boracay. (Mind you, though Boracay is beautiful, there are countless other beaches that are even more so, and which are less commercialized.) But I'm so looking forward to meeting this fellow Filipina face-to-face, and to share a drink or two with her.

I just hope I don't forget to apply sunscreen in all the excitement, otherwise I'll be burnt to a crisp like this again if I do.

i don't think it's just your human nature. We all have a tendency to want what we want when we want it.

even when we can't have it.

for example, i want nothing more than an ice cold beer right this second. But I'm at work.

Damn :(

Getting a tan isn't that bad but yes, it's definitely better to apply sun block.

Well, I guess we always right what we want and not follow the orders of others.

We dream because we can't always get what we want when we want it.

Dream always, Lizza.

I understand how You feel, getting behind on blogging. Happens to the best of us!

Nice seaside shot. Right about now, with humidity hellish on our East Coast, I am longing for the crisp cool nights of fall. When it is fall, I shall probably crave spring.

I'm glad you were spared from all of that traffic and other snares caused by the rains.

Actually, I think I'm quite looking forward to you bugging me - if only that nasty Penfold would let me travel with him, after all I've done for him.
Sand in your toes again - huh

But you look so pretty, burnt to a crisp. So I guess it isn't such a bad thing, hanh?

M's setting up 'shop' in Boracay? really? wow. [that's not a WOW-wow. it's a sad litle envious, rat-fart of a wow.]

You gorgeous thing you! That long dark hair and a tan.....If you could refrain from stopping traffic on the beach long enough you'd have time to blog.

Sigh.

I'll take this a step further...we want what we want, when we want it, and when we have it we want something else.

What Trav said ;-)
My mental images of the beach and the ocean remain an oasis in my brain. When the world gets too much I escape to them.

Smooch

I second Mim's comments. (o:

Kiyotoe: Now that's one of the things I can do: have a beer while I'm working. Thanks for reminding me.

Kyels: Thanks for your input. But I got more than just a tan that time.

Ian: Is there such a thing as dreaming too much? Don't answer. :-D

ECD: If we had the four seasons like you did, I think I'd like fall most of all. But what the heck do I know. All we get here is wet, or more wet, or stiflingly dry!

Debo: Thanks, dear.

DaddyP: We will meet someday, I hope.

Yep, sand in my toes and in my mind.

Nursemyra: Just a few more months, and it's summertime for you. But I bet you're making things hot over at the gimcrack.

Deb: I usually don't burn easily. So I was shocked to see myself burnt that much that particular time. Weird stuff.

H: You have GOT to come, my dear sis, when M sets up shop. Please, please, please, please? We will come visit you too, you know we want to.

Michael: If you already have a Google account, no problem signing up for a Google reader account. Makes keeping track of blogs easier -- in my experience, at least.

PinB: Tone up? Sa buong katawan ko, ang lalamunan ko lang yata ang toned. na useful naman for some things di ba? ;-)

Two dozen? Yum. I'm salivating already.

Mimi: You're such a sweet thing, you are.

Odat: I do! And will!

Travis: So true. Sigh.

Turnbaby: May your oasis and mine overlap someday.

Smoooooch!

ECD: Aww, thanks. You're sweet too.
