Come back to me

I am frantic.

My beloved will not respond, no matter how much I press, pinch, and poke. No amount of stripping, caressing, or heartfelt pleas to it works; even talking dirty fails to elicit a reaction. I should've foreseen from recent lackluster behavior that it would eventually come to this.

I have lost my text appeal and I am desolate. It feels like I'm missing a limb or some other vital part of my anatomy. The words "You never truly appreciate something until after it's gone" have never seemed truer.

I live in the hope that during the next few days I again will get the response to which I have become accustomed; to see again what I've become used to seeing; to hear once more the sounds that have become part of everyday life.

If not, then I will have to go out to visit the damn service center. Damn this dependence on modern electronic gadgetry!

In the meantime I'll just curl up in the fetal position in a dark corner and rock myself to sleep. After I finish my beer, that is.

i was told of the text craze years ago, because i was not there i could not see the attraction; i guess it is the same dependence that i have on email. yeah our happiness puts much reliance on our technological gadget. that's why i am thinking of joining the group of technos (say no to technology) that they have formed here in the bay area. way too much technology nowadays.

I fully agree with photo cache. All those gadgets are fast becoming the curse of modern life. Wasn't life better without the mobile, GPR, internet, blog, Friendster, Ebay, Amazon, chat rooms, Google, email, my Face, Second Life, Google Earth....

Lizza, please sit down.

I am so sorry to tell you that your text appeal has been whoring itself out to the lowest bidder. I know this may be hard to hear, which is why I am happy that you have a beer nearby.

I believe that your text appeal has been fraternizing with alphanumeric paging and Wikipedia in a wild orgy of ASCII characters and TTYLs.

In time, you will move on. Perhaps to an LG Prada, who knows. Remember to keep hope alive.

Sincerely,
Justin

see what cell phones, ipods, mp3 players, blackberries, cable t.v., and Oprah have done to us?!

Wait, not Oprah, not Oprah.

But see how dependant we've become on the rest of that stuff.

Gotta go, my cell is vibrating.

Ha! Ha! I too used to be addicted to all that electronic stuff but I can walk away anytime. Seriously.

Well, let's not be hasty. I can live w/o the iPod.

No wait, the cell.

No, aaarrrghhh! I need all of my stuff. I sympathize with you.

It's the Indulgency pattern; we all have it. Technology is booming and because we are too dependent on it we can't seem to live without it.

xD

I am tempted to try to lull you to sleep so that I can pry that beer out of your hands. I am so thirsty.

All babies should have mobile mobiles hanging, just out of reach, above their cots. They would then be prepared for the situation you find yourself in now. Good luck and let us know how you get on.

Maraming mumurahin na jan sa tabitabi. Yung nga Nokia na maliit, mura na, matibay pa.

Blinog pa ang pagkadismaya. As if may fafang magdodonate. =)

I could get by without my cell

but I couldn't get by without my blog.

does anyone else remember those old ads for Mum Deodorant?

"I could get by without my mum....
I really couldn't get by without my mum..."

Photo: Oh, don't get me started on Internet addiction. :-)

Sidney: Makes me wonder about the things that are still to come. Then we'd say, "Wasn't life better when we had just the Internet, mobile, email, etc..." :-D

Justin: Oh, that little whore. Yes, I clearly must move on. I deserve better. :-D

Bond: I am a hollow reed. *taking deep breaths*

Kiyotoe: At least Oprah gives away cars and houses to her audience! (Mist1 would love your cell, btw.)

Debo: Let's just throw them all away and live in the mountains or a farm or anywhere. As long as there's high-speed Internet.

Kyels: Easy to adapt to technology, less easy to re-adapt going without it. :-D

Mist1: And you deserve one. Great job hosting the Mundane Carnival!

DaddyP: Great advice for new parents. All I had were the usual mobile ornaments when I was a baby.

HB: Blog censor? Manoling, ikaw ba yan? Manong talaga ang dating mo minsan. :-D Who knows, I might get lucky like Janna. Yeah, right. I just wish. :-D

ZI: You'll be having three cell phones? :-) Cheers!

Nursemyra: Heaven forbid you should lose access to your blog!!!

I'm telling you, we're nearing that age when we'll all have to go back to beepers. Mobile phones and text messaging are overrated; now beepers are the truth - you can opt not to answer when it's not a fire emergency, a crisis in love, or an invitation for a couple of beers.

And it's very prudent of you to be drinking! Let's all be drunk with alocohol and not inconvenient modernism. I'd gladly raise a toast, too. :)

Cheers! :)

I have no idea what I would do without the wonders of text messages. I hope things work out for you soon.

Lizza said...

Migs: Haha! But...beepers are so, umm, unpretty. I like your concept, though.

Matt: Need the electronic equivalent of Viagra then. Cheers!

Odat: Haha! Yep, I'm just one big baby. :-D

Natalie: Thanks. I hope so too!

I never got hooked on texting. And based on this description of your affliction, I am glad!

Travis: Everyone here has a cell phone. Well, nearly everyone. At least those with a pulse. :-D

HB: Correeeeeect! ;-D
