Have you ever experienced distraction to such a point that it drives you nuts? Like when you find yourself reading the same paragraph over and over again because absolutely nothing at all sinks in--in spite of your best efforts to concentrate--because your thoughts keep distracting you?
Or when you're standing in line at the supermarket or sitting in a bus on the way to somewhere and those thoughts pop up unbidden in your head? Memories of something so good, so delicious, that you just can't stop yourself from smiling. Until you notice the people around you starting to give you an odd look or two. You pull yourself together and do your best to look blasé, but after a few moments those memories engulf you once more and you even find yourself softly (or so you think!) verbalizing some of those thoughts. And that faraway look is in your eyes and that silly grin is on your face again. This time, though, you notice people are starting to edge away from you...giving you looks that say they think you've got a few loose screws or that you're missing a few cards in your deck. Looks that say they think you're an escapee from the funny farm.
But they'd be only half-right, because your mind is still in the funny farm. Or at the very least, it's a frequent visitor.

I don''t know what you mean... ummm yes I do remember that sunny day on the beach...you post is totally unfamiliar to me she looked so good in her bathing suit next to me I mean really ...how could anyone ever just fall into something like that and then we went into the water together
Look I have to go now
hehehehehehehe
Unfortunately my mind gives way to out right laughter at any given moment in public places. But what the hell...Have a good weekend Lizza.
Yep! Been in that situation before whereby everything would not sink in ... It's frustrating but I guess our minds were occupied with some unknown stuff, maybe?
XD
I'm there quite often, especially when I'm trying to get to sleep. I find my self giggling weirdly, and then hoping B didn't notice.
I got distracted reading this post. What did you say?
bond: You lost me when you mentioned "beach." :-D Distracted again...
Matt: Yep, sometimes you just can't help but let the laughter bubble over. Happy weekend!
inamini: Haha! Common experience, it seems.
mist1: You didn't miss much. It was about S-E-X -- at the funny farm. :-D
kyels: I don't know about unknown...unexpected, maybe! :-D
Yaxlich spends his life dreaming about a better world so he understands what Lizza is saying.
Sometimes he forgets what is real and what he has imagined.
Also he likes your new photo. His Beffy McManstick has gone funny.
Sometimes there's a fine line between imagination and reality, isn't that great?
Good Lord. I should thank Yaxlich, I think. :-D I hope the new photo bodes well for his (occasional) Beefy McManstick webcomic. :-D
I am guilty for all the things you mentioned in your post, Lizza.
DO you reckon it's a pisces thing? Cos I noticed you're a pisces and so am i.
Haha. Unexpected sounds better.
XDD
Have a great weekend Lizza. :)
HELLL yes Lizza. ALL THE BLEEDING TIME!
ok, point in case [which is a ghastly phrase I've been using with annoying frequency since yesterday], through six years of going to the same school, I just never managed to figure the route... because I'd ALWAYS zone out the moment the bus started moving.
I spend hours writing just one script... not hours, actually days.
Gosh... there are just SO many instances that I'm beginning to get embarrassed...
Gak.
terra: Well, fellow Piscean...apparently it isn't exclusive to us. :-)
kyels: Have a great weekend yourself!
H: Seeing you zoned out, now THAT would be interesting. But I wouldn't disturb you because you might bite my head off. :-)
I love that game show. =) Hehe.

I guess I'm not the only one then
I get distracted almost all the time...
On everything too...
Oh I can so relate...It's happened to me sitting at my desk at work...just looking at the computer and giggling like a nut!
My coworkers are very tolerant tho.
lol.
Peace
HB: I've seen only one episode. It's a fun show, but I had to turn my face away from the TV when they did the piercings. :-)
ZI: I guess it's a normal occurrence for most of us then. :-)
odat: Haha! The sight of someone giggling at nothing can be freaky; good thing your colleagues are tolerant.
omg cute pic liz ! me likey :D
my mind doesnt wander into the gutter like yours does :P although... i have been tryin out this new method of focusing and only focusing on that one thing and it seems to be workin... look ! something shiny !
Yes, distractions are rough, especially when you realize all of a sudden that someone has been speaking to you and trying to get your attention for several moments.
I get the funny farm looks from folks all the time...I just can't figure out why...maybe because I'm so distracted.
Deb: My mind runs to the gutter?!? Thank you! :-D I just hope that the shiny thing you're referring to isn't what I think it is!
Michael: Haha, you're so right about getting distracted in mid-conversation. Hope you're having a good weekend.
I rewrote this comment 3 times because I kept getting distracted. The toast burned, mom called again, and I lost a few of my marbles in the film loop. Does that count?
This happens to me all the time. I kid you not.
It is especially frequent when my medicine starts running out! ;)
Mimi: You crack me up! As long as there's cheesecake, then everything's ok.
Dan: Haha! Make sure that you're always well-stocked then. Thanks for visiting! :-)
I'm still reading your post...
Hello? Inamini? You done? ;-)
