It's 3:30 AM and I'm supposed to asleep now because in just a few hours I'll be going with my mom and my hubby to the cemetery. She goes to visit my dad's grave several times a year, and she never misses this day. For those of you who may not know, the first of November is a big thing here...many, many people go to visit their dearly departed on this day. The cemeteries are fiendishly crowded. When my time comes, I think I want to be cremated. Jeez, what a grave mood I'm in now.
Grave. Gravitas. Gravitation. Gravity.
According to dictionary.com, gravity is the natural force of attraction between any two massive bodies, which is directly proportional to the product of their masses and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between them.
Anything that has mass is subject to gravity. Maybe one of the reasons I can't fall asleep is because my thoughts aren't massive enough? Aside from the fact that I'm usually awake at this hour, of course. It can't be for the lack of gravitas, I have too much of that already. I think I'm gravitating towards the loony bin.
Sigh.
Happy Halloween everyone!

Oh my. It's already November 1st there for you.
That means it's officialy NaNoWriMo time in the Phillippines.
I'll try not to think about that....
love ya ~ mo
Woohoo, NaNoWriMo time for you guys! Best of luck, Mo. Btw, I hope to do as good a job as you did over at Bobby's site.
Lizza...what mood swings we're having. From Hooooo to gravitas in such a short period of time. I was caught unprepared.
me too, on the cremation. The husband doesn't like me to talk about it, but hey it's going to happen eventually, we might as well know what we want.
It might help if you slept on the moon.
I was told there would be no math. Can I use my calculator?
just a quick note, more from finding your blog for the first time, than this particular entry. I very much enjoy reading you, your thoughts and the tangents your mind takes. Good stuff lady!
Tom
Lovely Lizza, let me formally welcome you The Loony Bin! Bwahaha! :p
We're also off to the cemetery in a bit. We go every year to visit my husband's father. I never met him, but I sure wish I had.
Happy "grave" day to us! c",)
We always recognize All Saints Day in church the first Sunday after Halloween. A chime is rung for every member who passed on that year. I think that's a special tradition. And by the way, I want to be cremated, too.
Hi Lizza,
It's not the weight of your thoughts that would make you sleep, but the clarity of your mind.
Empty your mind before you sleep and just feel your body and mind relax. The rest will follow.
=)
This is much too grave for me...
(Kidding!)
Love random thoughts that lead us to "gravitate" towards looniness!!!
Peace
I've found the best way to find slumber when it's being elusive is to climb into bed and try to read the book or play that you've been meaning to read forever -- the one that you've tried and tried to sit down to read, but something always comes up. This time it will be sleep. Some of us just aren't meant to read "A Few Good Men".
Happy Halloween to you to (it's still All Hallows' Eve here in the States), and I too may try my hand at novel writing this month. I have an hour and a half to decide, so we'll see.
They have the custom for November 1 in Latin America, I guess because of the common Spanish roots?
aisby: My mood swings catch me by surprise too. :-D No worries, I'm chipper again.
Matt: Great idea! Do you think the man in the moon would be open to taking a roommate?
mist1: Calculate away! I'm hopeless at math; I nearly flunked all my math subjects when I was growing up.
Tom: Welcome! And thank you very much for the kind words. I'll go read your blog in a bit. Looking forward to it!
Irene: Well, Iridescent One, it seems I'll be in good company after all. :-) I hope your day went well. Mine did.
Gale: I wasn't aware of that. Thanks for the info. It's a holiday here...people get the day off from work.
lastonehere: I think I'm going to like that game. It'll drive us all even loonier. :-D Good luck on NaNoWriMo!
HB: Empty my mind. I will really, really try. :-D Thanks for the tip!
odat: Better looniness than an early grave, haha! :-D
Sony: Hey, thanks for the advice. Sometimes that works for me, sometimes it doesn't. :-) Good luck on NaNoWriMo (if you did decide to go for it).
parlancheq: Yes, that's probably it.
Awwww. Lizza. I think your thoughts are too heavy. too much mass makes for indigestion in the brain. all this physics is bunkum. what you need is a good light arsey read before bed... it's like digene. take a hug. get a big bag of something deliciously gooey and sweet and settle in bed with PG wodehouse [his writing at any rate]...
I tell you... it works.
I always did think novemeber was a rather depressing month
:H: Going to bed with something for my sweet tooth sounds nice...and PG Wodehouse. Thanks! :-D
shadowfalcon: Maybe it's because another year is about to end? Tempus really does fugit.
That equation looks way scary.
That was heavy Lizza.
Get it?
Ahhh, forget it. And you didn't know, everybody sick enough to start a blog and stick to it the way we all do, has already landed in the cuckoo's nest.
Except me of course. But save me a bunk near yours because you know EVERYBODY!
emma: You're pulling my leg. You're the maths genius here. :-)
kiyotoe: Haha! Trust you to exempt yourself from kookiness. And stop spreading rumors that I know everybody. :-D
I must have forgotten about that word verification yesterday when i left a comment--- something about massive assive and lack of attraction---- it escapes me now-- Hope you got some shut eye before the grave visit with dad--- nice tradition--
Now I remember posting a comment this afternoon... oh nevermind
Anyway... I think you might just be overthinking, if there is such a word.
And no you are no loony but contrary to that...
May be you need to unwind a bit and things will be better
Hope you have a good sleep...
:)
nannan: Thanks! It's a nice tradition, but the crowds give me the willies sometimes. Strangely, it wasn't that crowded today. :-)
ZI: Unwiiiiind...sounds heavenly. Thanks! :-)
I think that sounds like a really nice holiday. Going with family to visit family seems rather joyous to me. Is it done that way or is it a more somber gathering? It kind of makes me think about my family being so spread out, we couldn't really do that so easily. The loss of roots in Modern America is an odd thing.
It should be somber, Natalie, but it isn't really. It's a reunion of sorts for many, actually. People bring food, many of them camp out overnight. People used to be able to drink and make merry at the graveyard; not anymore, though. They've imposed a ban on alcohol and gambling. :-)
