Manic Monday #22: Drop

Visit Morgen's site, It's a Blog Eat Blog World, for other interpretations of this week's Manic Monday theme: DROP.

**********

As some of you may know, I love the rain. So it's hardly any surprise to read here that I'm enjoying the days and nights more now. Because of the cooler weather. Because of the fresh, clean smell of the air after a downpour. Because curling up in bed with a good book (and some chocolate) with the rain tapping on the roof for background music is just so cozy.

But with the monsoons come problems like floods and landslides, which happen not just here in the Philippines but in many other parts of Asia too.

Raindrops, teardrops. Hard to tell which is which sometimes.

Sad how something that's otherwise beneficial, peaceful, and beautiful can bring so much death and destruction. Whether there's too little or too much or just enough, it'll pass. All we can do really is to just let it rain, keep our chins up, and make the most of it. And drink beer.

Be still, sad heart, and cease repining;
Behind the clouds is the sun still shining;
Thy fate is the common fate of all,
Into each life some rain must fall,
Some days must be dark and dreary.
-Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

  16. with very little rain here this year, i long more and more for those monsoon days and the activities you described that go along with confinement. what i miss is waking up before six when the winds are howling and just watching all the trees sway in harmony with the wind and rain....a wonderful sight. hay, nostalgia.

  18. HB: Carpenters! Actually, Madonna's Rain was what I was listening to when I thought up this post.

    Bahing!

    Nursemyra: That Penfold better get to you soon!

    Bond: Thank you very much, sir. Cheers!

    Odat: Thanks! Glad you liked it.

    CS:

    Ian: Haha! You're right though, picturing Homer saying it is just so right.

    Jamie: Yes, haha. I like the Carpenters.

    CS: I was drawn to it the first time I saw it.

    Bridget Thanks!

    Mert: Thanks. I like the rain, but too much isn't good.

    Sandee: Thanks!

    Photo: Ooohh, I get that in the morning of a storm because there are two gigantic mango trees right outside my window. Looking at the branches and leaves swaying and hearing the wind rushing through them is so delicious. Uwi na!

    Natalie: Thanks!

  19. That's true isn't it? It's going to rain, and it's going to flood, and some are going to be damaged by it.

    So we live our lives and hope it doesn't happen to us. And if it does, then we do our best to survive it.

    Happy MM!

  20. Even though there might be raindrops and teardrops, I don't think it's wrong to pray and hope for a better day.

  25. Trav: Exactly. We're so much more resilient than we think.

    Kyels: Nothing wrong with hoping and praying for something better.

    eastcoastdweller: Doing my psychokinetic best to send the rain clouds your way.

    Tammie Jean: Sweet how such a little thing can grab our attention and enthrall us.

    rs_seattle: Is that really true? The movies show it to be so, but I didn't know for sure. Thanks for visiting!

    Sanni: I hope things are better over there, my sweet friend.
